Dr Bleddyn E. Bowen

Lecturer in International Relations, University of Leicester

Dr Bleddyn E. Bowen is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Leicester, UK and holds a PhD in International Politics from Aberystwyth University, Wales. He is an internationally recognised academic expert in space strategy, spacepower theory, military space activities, and UK and EU space policy. Dr Bowen has published in several academic journals on spacepower theory, UK space strategy, UK and US space doctrine, and space debris. 2020 will see the publication of his monograph War in Space: Strategy, Spacepower, Geopolitics with Edinburgh University Press and Oxford University Press America. He has previously provided testimony to the UK Parliament’s Brexit Select Committee on the impact of Brexit on the UK’s participation in the Galileo programme, and has previously lectured at Aberystwyth University, King’s College London, and the Royal College of Defence Studies. Dr Bowen is a frequent contributor to numerous media outlets on space policy having been interviewed by BBC radio and television outlets, the Washington PostThe EconomistThe Financial TimesThe TimesLe MondeARTE TV, and Wired.
